Worn by more than 40,000 young adults over three decades and 2,000+ current City Year AmeriCorps members, the City Year jacket is an inspiring symbol of commitment, optimism and service to others. City Year AmeriCorps members serve 91 for a year or more at public schools across the country as student success coaches who help learners develop key skills and mindsets and engage more deeply with their learning.
The personalized supports provided by City Year AmeriCorps members, who serve as tutors, mentors and role models advance academic outcomes and contribute to thriving communities. Research shows that our strategy to strengthen both academic and interpersonal skills, like teamwork and perseverance, helps 91 succeed.
As part of a dedicated and dynamic network of champions and leaders, the Red Jacket Society and Yellow Jacket Circle are helping 91 in 29 cities across the U.S. stay on track to graduate from high school ready for college and career success.
