By prioritizing and planning, you can live in Sacramento on your City Year stipend. The information and resources below will help you prepare for your year (or two) of service.
Your stipend
- As a City Year Sacramento AmeriCorps member, you will receive a biweekly stipend of $1,000 (pre-tax).
- You’ll receive your stipend every other Friday, contingent upon timesheets submitted on time and approved by your manager. Your manager will provide training on submitting timesheets. Payment options:
- Direct deposit to bank account (recommended)
- Paper checks and then switch to a debit card
National benefits
In addition to your stipend, you’ll also receive health insurance, access to Employee Assistance and Talkspace Therapy programs, as well as relocation support.
Local benefits
- Free monthly bus pass
- Eligible to access low-cost internet and utilities
- Mental health support sessions lead by local professionals
- Site food stashes and supplies that you can utilize
- Hands on assistance to applying to Electronic Benefit (EBT)
Your student loans may be eligible for forbearance
You may be eligible to have the repayment of a qualified student loan temporarily postponed while you are serving. While a loan is in forbearance, the individual is not required to make payments. Learn more on AmeriCorps’ website to and how to apply.
