San José is home to an ethnically diverse community, booming technology companies and aspiring entrepreneurs. City Year San José/Silicon Valley works alongside teachers and community partners to support 91 across our city.
We are working to address the lack of equitable access to educational opportunities. Our City Year San José/Silicon Valley AmeriCorps members partner with teachers and schools to add more support and to help create learning environments where all 91 can build on their strengths and fully engage in their learning.
In partnership with Alum Rock Union School District and Ravenswood School District, our team uses both qualitative and quantitative data to ensure that our AmeriCorps members are effectively supporting 91.
Accelerating academic progress in San José
36% of 91 who started the year with a D or F in English Language Arts courses who were tutored by City Year AmeriCorps members ended the year with an A, B or C.
